 Stone Pony

Stone Pony is a band based in West Norfolk that has been in existence since September 1999.The band was formed by Andy Graham with the intent of playing traditional American Blues. Over time the set lists have evolved and whilst blues is still a major feature, a lot of other styles are now performed including Rock, Soul, Pop and Rock and Roll. The band therefore can switch from pure blues sets to non-blues sets dependent on what the venue/event requires or perhaps the mood the band is in.

The current line-up consists of Andy Graham (guitar / vocals), John Setchell (Bass  / vocals), and Jake Graham (Drums). However the line-up is very flexible and does vary from gig to gig dependent on how many players the venue wants and who is available. Luke Graham (guitar) is effectively a part-time member of the band. Quite a family band says John!

The band has an extensive repertoire of currently approximately 750 songs but pride themselves (foolishly or otherwise) that the songs are performed live with little or no rehearsal. This makes the band extremely flexible and responsive making a dynamic and exciting chemistry between the musicians.

By the end of 2007 Stone Pony had performed about 500 gigs, whilst Andy had totalled over 1000 including his other musical ventures.

Incidentally, the name Stone Pony comes from a Charlie Patton song recorded in 1934 called Stone Pony Blues.

"Easy on the ear and musically highly competent, with a fluid style, they made a spot-on job of standards like Baby Please Don't Go. Perfect to see out a Sunday night"
