The Stone Pony line up has always been very
flexible, but John Setchell has played regularly with the band
for many years... in fact very near to the bands formation
playing his first gig in Nov 99. I have played regularly
with John longer than any other musician. We have agreed to go
our separate ways and I would like to thank John for his very
significant contribution to the development of the band over
the years and to his friendship also which I value very much.
I wish him all the best for the future and I am sure there
will be occasions when we will play together again.
No definite plans for fixing a stable unit ..
it's against my nature anyway! However, Zac Moore is playing
bass on a significant number of gigs. On other occasions Pete
Carter is playing bass or Jake moves from drums to bass and
Carlos El Tano plays drums. Other times I'm inviting other
musicians too .... just as I've always done.
I want to properly develop the extensive set
list the band currently has and extend it further too. I'm
looking forward to playing the blues as always, but adding
more diverse influences and try to strip away the
preconceptions of what we might play on any particular
occasion.
There are no Next Big Gig's now scheduled in
May as I moved one back to June. That means there will be
three in June. I will advise the billing in due course.
