John Setchell
Bass player with Stone pony for 7years. Here in his own words is some stuff about himself:
"Father played jazz piano in RAF band, uncle played drums, and my grandfather had his own orchestra who played for the King at Christmas parties at Sandringham!
Bought first bass at 14, and had one ever since (over 40 years!). I've been in
bands from teens, playing support to Fleetwood Mac and Chris Farlow
amongst others.
Influences - Early rock 'n' roll which my elder sister listened to; Clapton,
Stones, Who, Animals, Small Faces, Pretty Things, Slade -
the naughty boys of music really. The clean-cut orchestrated Mersey scene
did little for me, and still does. I like Motown tho'.
Now wrestling to play keyboards, as I don't think I can take the bass much further personally - and I ain't dead yet!"
Thanks John !!
